Line up
About This Machine
Line-Up, manufactured by the Shyvers Manufacturing Company of Chicago in February 1937, is a single-player electro-mechanical payout machine. Shyvers was a relatively short-lived manufacturer, active from about 1935 to 1937, and this game dates from near the end of that run.
As a payout machine rather than a straight scoring game, Line-Up would have rewarded winning outcomes directly rather than simply registering a high score — a common design for coin-operated machines of the mid-1930s, when the line between pinball and gambling devices was often blurry. As with many machines from small, short-lived manufacturers of this era, detailed records of Line-Up's specific rules, artwork, and features have not survived.
Little else is documented about this particular title, but its existence is a reminder of the many small Chicago-area manufacturers competing in pinball's earliest commercial boom during the mid-1930s.
