About This Machine

Line-Up, manufactured by the short-lived Baker Novelty and Manufacturing Company in November 1940, is a single-player, flipperless electro-mechanical pinball machine with a football theme. Baker Novelty operated only from about 1939 to 1941, making surviving records for its machines relatively sparse.

The game features 18 passive bumpers and a backglass light animation depicting players moving across the field, a nice thematic touch for a football-themed machine of this era. The backglass itself is a compact 21-by-21-inch square.

Because Baker Novelty's output was limited and short-lived, Line-Up offers a small window into one of the more obscure manufacturers of pinball's early flipperless era, though many specifics about its design and original marketing have not survived.
