Lady Sharpshooter
About This Machine
Lady Sharpshooter, manufactured by Game Plan, Incorporated in May 1985, is a two-player cocktail-table pinball machine from the final year of the company's run. Game Plan, an Illinois manufacturer active from 1978 to 1985, was known for its cocktail-format games, and Lady Sharpshooter, running on the Game Plan MPU-2 board with a confirmed production of 1,200 units, is one of the last examples of that niche.
The gameplay features are engaging for the compact format. Two flippers, three pop bumpers, a slingshot, and two standup targets offer players a variety of ways to interact with the machine, while a kick-out hole and a spinning target add further variety, demanding precision and timing from the player. The combination of these features supports the machine's American West theme.
The artwork, by Larry M. Blazek, depicts the classic American frontier era; his signature can be found on the playfield wall between the swinging saloon door and the two barrels. One curious footnote surrounds the design credit: Roger Sharpe was long listed as the game's designer, but he stated at a 2009 Chicago Pinball Expo seminar that he did not design it, and the credit has since been removed. The software was programmed by Rehman Merchant.
