About This Machine

In 1972, D. Gottlieb & Company released Jungle, an electro-mechanical pinball machine designed by Ed Krynski that would become a notable addition to any serious collector's cabinet. Jungle stands out for its immersive jungle theme and engaging gameplay features.

One of the key attractions of Jungle is its playfield layout, which boasts two flippers, a pop bumper, two slingshots, and an action ring (identified on the manufacturer's flyer as a "semi-enclosed pop bumper") that rewards players with extra points. The machine's ten star rollovers add an exciting twist to traditional pinball gameplay. Additionally, Jungle features standup targets and a spinning target, providing multiple paths for scoring and strategy, along with a left outlane kickback and right outlane ball return gate.

The jungle theme is brought to life through artwork by Gordon Morison, depicting exotic wildlife. Jungle was also released in a 2-player version as Gottlieb's "Wild Life," and in two single-player add-a-ball versions, "Jungle King" (1973) and "Jungle Life" (1972). With confirmed production of 5,775 units, Jungle is a solid example of Gottlieb's early 1970s catalog.
