Bad Girls
About This Machine
Bad Girls, designed by Jon Norris and manufactured in 1988 by Premier Technology under the Gottlieb trade name, is a solid-state electronic pinball machine with a billiards theme, challenging players to rack up points by hitting shots on various targets. A confirmed 2,500 units were produced on Gottlieb's System 80B hardware, with artwork by Constantino and Jeanine Mitchell.
The machine's notable features include three flippers, three pop bumpers, two slingshots, two vertical up-kickers, two spinning targets, a vari-target, and a row of seven memory drop targets split across 4-bank, 3-bank, and single-target groups. The "Bozo feature" adds a catch-up mechanic: if a player has not yet scored a rack by the start of their last ball, the top lane lights to start at 100,000 or 200,000 points, at the operator's option. A photographic translite and mirrors on the cabinet sides create a visually striking package.
An interesting footnote from designer Jon Norris: ten Bad Girls machines were released to test Gottlieb's System 3 hardware and shipped to New Orleans Novelty, distinguishable by dimmed displays at match time and flipper bats printed with the Gottlieb name. With its blend of challenge and reward, Bad Girls offers players an engaging experience that keeps them coming back for more.
