Invasion
About This Machine
Invasion, manufactured by Westerhaus Amusement Company in October 1943, is an electro-mechanical pinball machine with an Adventure - Combat theme. Rather than an original design, it is a wartime-era conversion of two earlier Genco titles: 1941's Seven Up and 1941's Sluggers, a common practice at the time as manufacturers repurposed existing hardware amid wartime material shortages.
As a pre-flipper-era EM machine, gameplay would have relied on skillful plunging, tilting, and target/hole scoring rather than flipper control, which was not introduced to pinball until 1947. Westerhaus Amusement Company operated only briefly, from 1943 to 1945, making surviving examples of its games relatively scarce.
While specific details of Invasion's artwork are not well documented, its wartime combat theme reflects the cultural context of its release during World War II. Its status as a conversion and Westerhaus's short manufacturing run contribute to its interest among collectors of early pinball history.
