Indiana Jones: The Pinball Adventure
About This Machine
Indiana Jones: The Pinball Adventure is a landmark 1993 widebody title from Williams Electronics, designed by Mark Ritchie and Doug Watson with artwork by Doug Watson. Released as part of Williams/Midway's "SuperPin" line, it was the first pinball game to use Williams' DCS sound system and features custom-recorded speech from actor John Rhys-Davies reprising his film role as Sallah, making it a notably faithful and immersive adaptation of the Indiana Jones film franchise.
The gameplay is packed with interactive elements: three pop bumpers, seven stand-up targets, two ramps, six active pinballs used in certain modes, and three video modes. A rotating idol head releases balls into play, and a player-controlled tilting upper playfield adds a distinctive physical challenge. Players can chase four multiball modes, including a standard 3-ball multiball, Quick Multiball (2-ball), the six-ball "Well of Souls" Multiball, and the six-ball "Eternal Life" wizard mode.
Visually, the machine is a stunning representation of the Indiana Jones franchise, with intricate artwork and depictions of iconic locations from the films. The cabinet art features a dramatic, cinematic depiction of Indiana Jones navigating a treacherous jungle landscape, while the playfield is adorned with detailed targets and ramps inspired by scenes from the movies. Weighing in at 286 pounds, this widebody machine reflects the substantial engineering that went into its creation.
