Hong Kong
About This Machine
Hong Kong, designed by Harry Williams with artwork by George Molentin, was manufactured by Williams Manufacturing Company beginning September 22, 1952. This single-player electro-mechanical game carries an adventure theme evoking the exotic allure of its namesake city.
The playfield offers a challenging and dynamic experience built around fifteen trap holes, eight passive bumpers, and a single pop bumper, with two flippers giving the player control over shots. Scoring is tracked on a replay wheel with a maximum of 45, accompanied by the ring of two bells, and a knock-off switch for the operator sits on the bottom right side of the cabinet.
With a Harry Williams design and Molentin's evocative artwork, Hong Kong is a fine example of early-1950s Williams pinball, from an era when trap-hole-heavy layouts and adventure themes defined the look and feel of the game.
