Home Run
About This Machine
Home Run, manufactured by Chicago Coin Machine Manufacturing Company in February 1972, is a two-player electro-mechanical bat game with a baseball theme. Rather than standard pinball play, bat games recreate the pitch-and-hit action of baseball, and Home Run continues a long Chicago Coin tradition of baseball novelty games stretching back decades.
The playfield features four small plastic ramps with metal underneath, and the game rewards good hitting with both backglass light animation and playfield light animation, including an animated sequence in which players run around the bases. This attention to visual detail helps capture the feel of a ballgame in an arcade cabinet.
As a later entry in the electro-mechanical era, Home Run remains an appealing piece for collectors of sports-themed coin-op machines, combining classic baseball imagery with satisfying mechanical action.
