About This Machine
According to the Internet Pinball Database, a 1939 'Hawthorne' by D. Gottlieb & Company does not actually exist. The Bally payout machine of this name was incorrectly identified as a Gottlieb game in the first edition of the Pinball Compendium Reference, and this listing exists to document that error.
The actual 'Hawthorne' was a single-player electro-mechanical payout machine produced by Bally in 1939. Collectors and researchers looking for information on this game should refer to the Bally listing rather than attributing it to Gottlieb.
