About This Machine

Gun Club is a single-player electro-mechanical pinball machine produced by Daval Manufacturing Co. of Chicago in May 1939. Daval was one of the many Chicago coin-machine makers active during the 1930s, and Gun Club dates from the final year of the company's pinball output.

As a 1939 game, Gun Club comes from the pre-flipper era: players launched balls with the plunger and relied on nudging and the layout of the playfield to score. Its theme of guns and target practice fit comfortably alongside the shooting-gallery amusements popular in arcades of the day.

Little else is documented about the machine — its designer and specific features are unknown — but it offers a small window into the crowded, fast-moving pinball market of the late 1930s, when dozens of manufacturers competed with new titles every few months.
