Zupapa! is a vibrant and energetic platformer for two players, released by SNK in 2001 on their Neo-Geo MVS hardware. Players control a charming hero accompanied by four smaller companions called Zooks as they navigate through diverse and colorful worlds like Toy Land and Dino Land, battling enemies along the way. The gameplay revolves around jumping and using your Zooks for attacks – tossing them at foes or utilizing them to gain an advantage during tricky platforming sections. Power-ups are scattered throughout the levels, offering boosts to speed, power, and score multipliers. Successfully clearing stages by defeating all enemies with a single Zook attack rewards players with special trophies. The game features a catchy soundtrack and simple controls using a joystick for movement and two buttons for jumping and attacking. Originally showcased years prior as a prototype, Zupapa! represents a unique chapter in Neo-Geo history as one of the few titles to transition from an unreleased state into an official release. It’s a lighthearted and accessible experience perfect for cooperative play with a friend.
