Xor World (ver 1.2, checksum DB5D0F, prototype)
Gaelco • 1990

Gaelco’s Xor World appeared in prototype form in 1990 and presents players with a puzzle experience reminiscent of Tetris. Two players can compete simultaneously, each manipulating falling blocks to clear the playfield. Using an eight-way joystick and two buttons, players rotate and position these shapes, aiming to create complete lines that disappear from the screen. The game’s core mechanic involves strategically fitting the blocks together while also reacting quickly as they descend at an increasing pace. As with many games of its type, successful play requires spatial reasoning and quick reflexes. Xor World never progressed beyond a testing phase, making it a relatively rare find for arcade enthusiasts. Powered by a Motorola 68000 processor and utilizing a SAA1099 sound chip, the game's hardware reflects contemporary arcade technology of the early 1990s.
