Capcom’s X-Men: Children of the Atom is a two-player versus fighting game released in Europe in 1994. Built on the CPS-II hardware platform, this arcade title allows players to choose from a roster of X-Men characters and battle head-to-head. The gameplay revolves around executing various special moves and combos to deplete your opponent's health bar and ultimately emerge victorious. Players control their chosen mutant in dynamic arena environments, utilizing unique abilities reflective of each character’s comic book origins. It is part of a series that began with development originating in Japan, and this European release represents a significant iteration on the original game. Subsequent revisions to the hardware introduced minor gameplay adjustments. This version of X-Men: Children of the Atom later saw ports to home consoles including the Sega Saturn and Sony PlayStation, as well as computer platforms running MS-DOS. It’s one of several versions released in North America and Europe, diverging from earlier Japanese releases.
