Wrestle War (set 3, World) (8751 317-0103)
Sega • 1989

Step into the ring with Sega’s Wrestle War, released in 1989 for two players. This sports title puts you in control of wrestlers battling it out to become the champion. The game was originally developed in Japan and later exported, resulting in a noticeable aesthetic change: player characters feature blond hair and blue attire instead of the dark hair and black clothing seen in the original release. Players engage in wrestling matches utilizing punches, kicks, throws, and grappling maneuvers to defeat their opponent. Wrestle War runs on Sega’s System 16B hardware and represents an early example of competitive wrestling gameplay within the arcade scene. A version of this game was later released for the Sega Mega Drive in Europe and Australia as part of a compilation title.
