Gameplay

Experience the thrill of rally racing in World Rally Championship, a two-player driving game from Gaelco released in 1993. Players take control of a Toyota Celica, navigating challenging road stages across varied terrain using a steering wheel, gear shifter, and accelerator pedal. The game presents four progressively difficult rallies, each composed of three distinct stages featuring asphalt, dirt, snow, and night environments that demand adaptable driving skills. Success in World Rally Championship relies on precision maneuvering through hairpin turns, jumps, and other obstacles while striving to stay within a 60-second time limit for each stage. Completing these stages earns players the chance to advance and compare their times against those of top drivers—a testament to skill and mastery of the racing line. The game's graphics utilize digitized images of a toy car model to bring the rally experience to life. Following its 1993 release in Spain, World Rally Championship was licensed for distribution in the United States by Atari and in Japan by Sigma. A sequel, World Rally 2 - Twin Racing, followed in 1995, continuing the series' focus on competitive rally driving.
