Gameplay

Wolf Pack is a one-player shooter gallery game created by Atari in 1978. Players use a dial control to aim and fire at waves of attacking wolves across the screen. The game features a horizontal display with a resolution of 512 x 224 pixels, rendered using a palette of eight colors. Designed and programmed by Dennis Koble and Jerry Lichac, Wolf Pack never progressed beyond its prototype stage and was not released to arcades. The gameplay involves defending against successive attacks from the wolf pack, demanding accurate aiming and timing. A single button is used for firing, allowing players to attempt to destroy each approaching threat. The game's internal hardware utilizes a MOS Technology M6502 processor running at 756 kHz with a screen refresh rate of 60 Hz. This rare prototype offers an intriguing glimpse into Atari’s development process from the late 1970s, showcasing early experimentation within the shooter genre.
