Gameplay

Four players compete in Wit’s, an energetic maze game released by Athena in 1989 under license from Visco. Gameplay recalls the light cycle sequences of Tron, tasking each player with maneuvering a glowing line through a futuristic arena while attempting to block and outmaneuver opponents. Unlike its predecessor, however, Wit's introduces the ability to jump over obstacles and utilize speed bursts for strategic advantage. Players control their lines using an eight-way joystick and two buttons, skillfully navigating increasingly complex pathways while avoiding collisions with other players and the arena walls. The game’s vibrant visuals are powered by a Motorola 68000 processor and accompanied by sound effects generated by an X1-010 chip. Designed by Crazy Tom and Hironobu Tamai, Wit's offered a fast-paced, competitive experience for up to four players simultaneously. A port of the game was later released for Nintendo’s Famicom console in 1990.
