Winning Run (World) (89/06/06, Ver.09)
Namco • 1988

Experience the thrill of racing in Winning Run, a 1988 driving game from Namco that puts you behind the wheel in a first-person perspective. Players choose between "Easy Drive" and "Technical Drive" modes to tailor their experience; regardless of selection, gameplay begins with a qualifying round where successfully navigating the track unlocks “Grand Prix” mode. Each stage challenges players against a time limit as they race through the course. Winning Run marked Namco’s third entry into racing games following the Pole Position series and Final Lap, and was notable for utilizing their new System 21 hardware which featured flat shaded polygons. The game features a single player experience controlled with a joystick and four buttons. The title launched in Japan late in 1988, followed by releases worldwide early in 1989, and went on to inspire sequels including Winning Run Suzuka Grand Prix and Winning Run 91. A Dunlop-branded tire bridge featuring the Namco logo is visible within the game's environment.
