Gameplay

Take to the skies in Sega’s Wing War (World), a single-player flight combat simulation released in 1994. Players control an airplane and engage in head-to-head aerial battles against opponents, attempting to shoot them down to emerge victorious. Built on Sega's Model 1 hardware, this game marks the final title produced for that platform and utilizes a standard joystick and seven buttons for gameplay. The experience is presented from a first-person perspective, immersing the player in the action as they maneuver their aircraft. Released initially in Japan before arriving in the United States later that year, Wing War features a soundtrack composed by Tomoyuki Kawamura (Muu) which was released on CD in 2006. A prototype version for the Sega 32X console was also developed but never formally released. The US version of Wing War includes a "Recycle It, Don't Trash It!" screen, highlighting an environmental message. Directed by Makoto Uchida, this arcade shooter offers a straightforward and intense aerial combat experience designed for solo play.
