Gameplay

Konami’s Winding Heat challenges players to navigate twisting mountain roads and city streets in a thrilling single-player driving game released in 1996. Taking control of a sports car, you race against opponents through various courses, attempting to outmaneuver them with precise steering and skillful use of the accelerator and brake. The chase-view perspective puts you directly behind your vehicle as it leans into hairpin turns and speeds along challenging routes. The game features a selection of cars to choose from, each offering unique handling characteristics. Players utilize an eight-way joystick for steering and three buttons for acceleration, braking, and shifting gears. Mastering the gearshift is key to maintaining speed and tackling difficult corners. Hidden within the game are secrets like additional car selections, accessible through specific actions during course selection. Beyond standard racing, Winding Heat also offers a Time Attack mode allowing players to test their skills against the clock. The soundtrack, released on CD shortly after the game's debut, complements the high-speed action with driving rhythms.
