Gameplay

Wall Crash is a single-player ball and paddle game released in 1984 by Midcoin. Players control a paddle at the bottom of the screen, using it to deflect a bouncing ball upwards toward rows of blocks arranged above. The goal is to clear all the blocks from the playfield, much like the classic arcade game Breakout. Throughout the game, special blocks appear that grant power-ups, such as a bomb to destroy multiple blocks at once or a doubling effect for the paddle’s size. The gameplay in Wall Crash offers a straightforward challenge with simple controls—a dial manages the paddle's movement and two buttons likely serve a function related to ball manipulation. Developed by an Italian team based in Naples, the game utilizes a Zilog Z80 processor and a General Instrument AY8910 sound chip for its audio. Its visual presentation features a horizontal screen resolution of 256x256 pixels with a palette of 32 colors. Wall Crash presents a familiar formula but provides small variations through its power-up system, offering players a little extra assistance as they work to break down the brickwork.
