VS Block Breaker (Europe)
Kaneko / Mediaworks • 1997
Also known as: Saru-Kani-Hamu-Zou

Players control paddles to deflect a ball and break formations of blocks in VS Block Breaker, a two-player arcade game released in Europe in 1997. Developed in Japan by Kaneko and published by Mediaworks, this title is an export version based on the earlier Japanese game "SaruKani Hamu Zou - Taisen Block Kuzushi.” The gameplay centers around strategic ball placement and quick reflexes as players work to clear each screen’s block patterns. The objective involves coordinating with a partner to systematically destroy all blocks appearing on screen; misdirection or missed shots can quickly lead to game over. Released in January of 1997, VS Block Breaker offers a familiar breakout style experience with the added challenge and dynamic of cooperative play. This arcade cabinet represents an example of Kaneko’s Super Nova cart technology and provides players with a straightforward yet engaging ball-and-paddle challenge.
