Step onto the court in Art & Magic’s Ultimate Tennis, released in 1993. This two-player sports game challenges you to a fast-paced tennis match utilizing a clever scrolling plane system that creates an early impression of three-dimensional depth. Players control their athlete using an eight-way joystick and button controls, aiming for powerful serves and strategic returns across the virtual court. Developed by the team behind notable Amiga titles like UNREAL and AGONY, Ultimate Tennis presented a technical achievement at the time of its release. The game features digitized sprites that were later replaced with cel-animated designs in subsequent Art & Magic projects. Approximately five thousand cabinets of Ultimate Tennis were produced and distributed worldwide, demonstrating an initial appeal across multiple international markets. The straightforward gameplay combined with innovative visual techniques made it a popular addition to arcades during the early nineties.
