Gameplay

Twin Qix is a four-player puzzle game released in 1995 by Taito America Corporation and part of the long-running Qix series. Players use an eight-way joystick to guide a line across the screen, attempting to draw outlines that will then become their territory when completed. The objective remains consistent with previous installments: enclose areas within defined boundaries while avoiding enemies that patrol the playfield and chase your drawing line. This prototype version runs on Taito’s F3 system hardware. While it was never formally released beyond a single Japanese board, Twin Qix introduces cooperative and competitive elements for up to four players simultaneously, expanding upon the core gameplay of its predecessors with increased player interaction. A unique quirk within the game's high score table prevents players from entering "SEX" as their initials, automatically changing them to “H !”. The development team included Keppel Maekawa as project leader and Harumi K for software design, alongside a large team responsible for graphics, sound, and hardware. The music was composed by Zuntata.
