Gameplay

Twin Bee is a vibrant, cooperative shooter released in 1985 by Konami, starring the titular bee-shaped robots, Twinbee and Winbee. Players take control of one of these characters as they navigate through colorful, scrolling stages filled with whimsical enemies and obstacles. The goal is to ascend through increasingly challenging environments while collecting power-ups hidden within special bells – striking them multiple times reveals a color change and ultimately grants useful abilities like increased speed or barriers. This game introduced Konami’s Bubble System hardware, featuring unique dual CPU architecture that contributed to its distinctive presentation. Two players can team up to tackle the challenges together, working as a unit to clear formations of enemies for bonus points, collect valuable yellow bells, and manage their power-ups effectively. Though originally planned for release in the United States under the name “Stinger,” it never materialized beyond an operator’s manual cover.
