Gameplay

Step into feudal Japan as Takeda Shingen in this action-packed arcade fighter from Jaleco. Released in 1988, Shingen Samurai-Fighter pits two players against each other while also facing waves of enemy soldiers attempting to disrupt the peace. Players control the samurai warrior, utilizing an eight-way joystick and three buttons to execute attacks and defend against opponents across a side-scrolling battlefield. The game’s field-fighter format combines elements of traditional fighting games with larger environments, allowing for strategic movement and varied combat approaches. As Shingen, you must battle through hordes of evil samurai and their forces to restore honor and order to the land. Two players can simultaneously engage in this quest, adding a competitive element to the experience. Built on Jaleco’s Mega System 1-A hardware, Shingen Samurai-Fighter features detailed graphics and sound driven by Motorola processors and Yamaha/OKI chips, creating an immersive battleground for players seeking a challenging samurai duel. A version of this game was later ported to the NEC PC-Engine console.
