Gameplay

In Truxton (known as Tatsujin in Japan), players take on the role of fighter pilots defending their planet from an alien invasion. A massive armada approaches aboard five enormous asteroids, and after a devastating attack on a cargo barge, only one remaining fighter stands between Earth and destruction. The game is a cooperative vertical scrolling shooter for two players where you must work together to navigate eight challenging levels, diverting the asteroid fortresses along the way. The gameplay involves maneuvering your fighter through increasingly difficult waves of alien ships and projectiles while blasting your way toward colossal boss encounters at the end of each stage. Truxton utilizes a distinctive scoring system and demands precise control as you attempt to master the game’s mechanics. The title, translating from Japanese as "Master," hints at the skill required to overcome this formidable challenge. Developed by Toaplan and published by Taito Corporation in 1988, Truxton features a vibrant visual style and an energetic soundtrack composed by Masahiro Yuge. It was followed up years later with Tatsujin Oh, indicating a planned series of games.
