Triv Quiz — Gameplay
Gameplay

Test your knowledge in Status Games’ 1984 quiz game, Triv Quiz. Players begin each round with a starting score and must first decide how many points they wish to wager on the presented question. Four categories are available – Sports, Entertainment, World Facts, and an Expert Challenge – offering varying levels of difficulty and rewarding correct answers with potentially significant point gains. Thousands of questions are stored within the game, ensuring a wide range of trivia topics. Gameplay involves reading a question displayed onscreen and then selecting from three possible answers. Successfully answering questions earns points, while incorrect guesses result in a loss of the wagered amount. Players are guaranteed at least four questions per round, with bonus rounds awarded for high scores that can push total point values into the millions. Top players can record their initials to compete for the highest score on the machine. A unique feature allows arcade operators to program custom advertising messages directly into the game's display, providing a flexible promotional tool without requiring additional hardware. Triv Quiz was the first in a series of trivia games from Status Games including Triv Two, Triv Four, Super Triv II, and Super Triv III.
