Trivial Pursuit (Genus II Edition) (3/22/85)
Bally/Sente • 1984

Test your knowledge against the classic trivia game in this 1984 arcade adaptation from Bally/Sente. Trivial Pursuit (Genus II Edition) challenges a single player to answer questions across six categories – Geography, Entertainment, History, Arts & Literature, Science & Nature, and Sports & Leisure – just like the popular board game. Using an eight-way joystick to navigate menus and select answers, players must demonstrate their breadth of knowledge to advance. The arcade version features vibrant graphics presented on a 256x240 pixel screen with a rich palette of colors, accompanied by sound generated from CEM3394 chips and managed by a Zilog Z80 processor alongside the main Motorola M6809 CPU. Several editions were released using the same hardware platform, including versions tailored for younger players or focused on specific themes like sports and baby boomer history. Richard Adam led the game's adaptation and software design, while Gary Johnson, Bil Maher, and Mark McPhee contributed to the visual presentation. A range of other talents were involved in audio creation and video hardware design, bringing this popular trivia experience to the arcade.
