Trivial Pursuit (Think Tank - Genus Edition) (2/12/85)
Bally/Sente • 1984

Test your knowledge against the classic board game in this 1984 arcade adaptation from Bally/Sente. Trivial Pursuit (Think Tank - Genus Edition) challenges a single player to answer questions across six categories—Geography, Entertainment, History, Arts & Literature, Science & Nature, and Sports & Leisure—to accumulate wedges and ultimately claim victory. Using an 8-way joystick for navigation and two buttons for question selection, players progress through the game’s trivia, aiming for accuracy under pressure. The game presents questions adapted from the popular Think Tank - Genus edition of Trivial Pursuit, offering a varied challenge for fans of the board game and general knowledge enthusiasts alike. The arcade version features detailed graphics displayed on a 256x240 pixel screen with a vibrant palette of over one thousand colors, accompanied by synthesized audio driven by a Zilog Z80 processor. Multiple editions were released including All Star Sports, Baby Boomer, Genus II, and Young Players, all running on the same hardware platform. Richard Adam led the game’s adaptation and software design with contributions from several artists for graphics, and Richard Green and Gary Levenberg for audio. Although originally an arcade title, versions of Trivial Pursuit were later released for Sinclair ZX Spectrum computers.
