Konami’s Trick Trap is a two-player shooter and walking game released in 1987. Players navigate maze-like environments using an eight-way joystick, carefully avoiding traps and enemies as they progress through the levels. The gameplay combines elements of strategic movement with shooting mechanics; precise positioning is key to survival while dispatching obstacles that obstruct your path. The game originated from a Japanese release called Labyrinth Runner, and Trick Trap represents an export version developed in Japan. Utilizing two Yamaha YM2203 sound chips, the soundtrack complements the action as players work together – or compete – to conquer the challenges ahead. Trick Trap’s internal game ID is GX771; the main processor runs at a speed of 3 MHz. Though the title screen displays 1987, it was available in arcades starting in January 1988.
