Tournament Table (set 1)
Atari • 1978

Tournament Table (set 1) arrived in arcades in 1978 from Atari and offers players a collection of eight distinct games playable by up to four people simultaneously. The cabinet's design allows for shared competition across these varied experiences, ranging from the familiar block-breaking gameplay of “Breakout” to sports simulations like Soccer, Hockey, Handball, and Basketball. Other included titles are Foozpong and Quadra Pong, each providing a unique twist on classic paddle-controlled action. Players utilize paddles to direct a ball or puck across the screen, aiming to score points against opponents or clear obstacles. Each game utilizes a simple control scheme – a single button and paddle manipulation – making it accessible for players of all skill levels while still presenting strategic challenges. The games display in a horizontal format with a resolution of 160 x 200 pixels, utilizing a palette of 128 colors powered by the MOS Technology M6502 processor. Tournament Table was originally released at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $795 and later received a console port as part of the Atari 2600 game "Video Olympics." It represents an early example of a multi-game compilation, providing arcade goers with several distinct entertainment options in one cabinet.
