Tokimeki Memorial Taisen Puzzle-dama (ver JAB)
Konami • 1995

Tokimeki Memorial Taisen Puzzle-dama is a competitive puzzle game released in 1995 by Konami, drawing characters from their popular dating simulation "Tokimeki Memorial." Up to four players can participate, maneuvering falling sets of coins with an eight-way joystick and simple rotation controls. The core gameplay involves strategically arranging these coins to create chains of three or more matching colors; clearing such combinations eliminates the coins while sending specially encased “locked” coins to your opponent’s side of the screen. These locked coins add a layer of strategic depth, as they require nearby coin clears to be removed and can trigger cascading chain reactions if managed effectively. The game challenges players to prevent the coins from piling up and reaching the top of the playfield, which results in defeat. Continuing a lost match simply restarts the previous round. A selection process allows access to secret characters for those who follow a specific sequence of button presses during setup, adding an extra element of discovery for dedicated players. Tokimeki Memorial Taisen Puzzle-dama was initially released in Japan and later ported to several home consoles including Sega Saturn and PlayStation, as well as PC.
