Time Scanner is a unique arcade game from Sega released in 1987 that reimagines the pinball experience through a video game lens. Two players can simultaneously control flippers and navigate ramps, targets, and bonus multipliers presented on distinct playfields. The game features four different tables, each divided into two sections with scrolling visuals—the screen moves vertically as players engage with either the upper or lower portion of the table, creating a dynamic sense of movement. The "time travelling" theme is reflected in the graphical style of each level, offering a varied visual experience across the tables. Players use an 8-way joystick and two buttons to direct their flippers and score points. Licensed for distribution by Atari in the United States, Time Scanner brought a fresh take on the classic pinball formula to arcades. Later ports were released for several home computers including the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, Commodore C64, Amiga, and Atari ST.
