Gameplay

Step into the boots of a lumberjack in Bally Midway’s Timber, a fast-paced platform game released in 1984. Players control two characters simultaneously, each with their own joystick to maneuver and swing an axe, striving to fell a set number of trees within a time limit. Be wary – grizzly bears occasionally hurl beehives that must be destroyed for points, while felled trees may release birds offering bonus rewards if caught. As you progress through the levels, the challenge intensifies with increasing tree quotas and dwindling timers. Periodically, players will face a thrilling bonus round where they attempt to balance on a shrinking log, testing their reflexes and earning substantial point bonuses. The game can be enjoyed competitively or cooperatively; clever use of the axe might even let you hinder your partner! Timber's simple premise belies its engaging gameplay, offering a frantic and enjoyable experience for up to two players. Built using Bally Midway’s MCR 3 hardware, this arcade classic provides a unique blend of action and skill that remains entertaining after all these years.
