Two players take on the role of elite soldiers in Thunder Fox, a fast-paced platform fighter released by Taito in 1990. The game blends side-scrolling action reminiscent of Rolling Thunder with shooter elements as you battle terrorists threatening the world. Players utilize an eight-way joystick and three buttons – attack, jump, and special weapon – to navigate challenging levels filled with enemies. A unique gameplay mechanic allows for melee attacks alongside firearm use, providing a tactical option when facing overwhelming odds. The Taito F2 system hardware delivers vibrant graphics and sound, creating an engaging experience as players fight their way through diverse environments. Quick boss defeats are rewarded with bonus points, encouraging skilled play and strategic action. Thunder Fox was originally released in August of 1990 and later ported to various consoles and computers as part of the Taito Legends compilation.
