Gameplay

Jaleco and The Tetris Company’s Tetris Plus 2 challenges players to master the classic block-dropping puzzle gameplay in a two-player competitive setting. This 1997 arcade release builds on the familiar formula, introducing a persistent character that appears within the falling blocks as you play. A narrative element unfolds alongside the action, with various bonuses appearing throughout your progress and increasing the game’s difficulty over time. Players control tetrominoes using an eight-way joystick to rotate and position them, aiming to clear lines and prevent the stack from reaching the top of the screen. Three buttons provide rotation options and a special “bomb” function for clearing blocks. The addition of story elements and bonuses adds layers of progression beyond simple score chasing. Tetris Plus 2 is a sequel in the Tetris Plus series, following the original 1995 release. A code can be entered to unlock an expert level for those seeking a greater challenge.
