Gameplay

Team up in Tekken Tag Tournament, a fighting game where two players control teams of combatants competing for victory in the Iron Fist Tournament. A unique tag system allows players to instantly swap between their two characters during a match, bringing in a fresh fighter to recover health or unleash new combinations. With over 35 familiar faces from previous Tekken installments and a mysterious boss character named Unknown who can dynamically change fighting styles, the game offers varied gameplay possibilities. Players progress through a tournament bracket facing six teams before ultimately challenging Unknown for the championship title; however, if one member of a team is defeated, the entire team is eliminated. The game features a wide array of characters, some initially locked and gradually unlocked as players continue to play. A unique mechanic allows players to alter character costumes via button selection, adding another layer of customization to the experience. Beyond standard fighting moves, skilled players can execute tag throws for surprising attacks, or begin rounds with a pre-selected partner by holding down the tag button. Hidden within the game's sound files are unused voice lines hinting at characters initially considered for inclusion, adding an intriguing glimpse into the development process.
