Tekken 2 Ver.B (World, TES2/VER.D)
Namco • 1996
Also known as: Tekken 2

Two years after the events of the original tournament, Kazuya Mishima seeks to settle an old score with his father, Heihachi, by hosting a new competition in Tekken 2. This fighting game pits two players against each other across detailed backdrops, utilizing a straightforward control scheme based around four attack buttons: left punch, right punch, left kick, and right kick. Mastering button combinations unlocks both standard attacks and special throws, allowing for strategic clashes and dynamic reversals. Tekken 2 Ver. B refines the original gameplay with adjustments to artificial intelligence and the addition of new moves, alongside changes to visual elements like text color. Players can unlock hidden characters by performing a series of specific inputs on the character select screen. A complex system of escapes allows players to counter throws, while certain powerful attacks and special moves are unblockable, adding depth to the combat system.
