Teki Paki
Toaplan • 1991

Teki Paki is a cooperative puzzle game released by Toaplan in 1991 for two players. Using eight-way joysticks and buttons, players must strategically drop blocks into a shared playfield to create complete lines and clear the screen. The goal is to prevent the stack of blocks from reaching the top, requiring careful coordination between both players to plan placements and react quickly to changing conditions. The game’s Japanese title, “Teki-Paki - Sennou Game,” translates to "Brainwashing Game," hinting at a challenging and mentally engaging experience. A limited edition soundtrack album featuring music composed by Tomoaki Takanohashi was released in Japan shortly after the game's debut. Licensed for distribution outside of Japan, Teki Paki reached audiences in regions including the United States, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. The game utilizes a Motorola 68000 processor and a YM3812 sound chip to deliver its gameplay experience.
