Tech Romancer (Europe 980914)
Capcom • 1998
Also known as: Choukou Senki Kikaioh

Capcom’s Tech Romancer arrived in arcades in 1998 as an export release originally developed in Japan under the name Choukou Senki Kikaioh. This two-player versus fighting game pits players against each other with a diverse cast of characters, each wielding unique robotic weaponry and abilities. The gameplay focuses on close-quarters combat combined with projectile attacks and strategic use of special moves to overwhelm your opponent. Players control their chosen character through a series of rounds, executing various maneuvers to deplete the opposing fighter's health bar. Tech Romancer features a straightforward control scheme emphasizing quick reflexes and understanding of each character’s strengths and weaknesses. A version adapted for the US market includes an environmental awareness message displayed during gameplay. The game later saw a port to the Sega Dreamcast in Europe and North America, appearing as Tech Romancer [Model T-7009D-50] and Tech Romancer [Model T-1208N], respectively.
