Gameplay

Super Model is a 1994 puzzle game for two players from Comad and New Japan System. The gameplay centers around revealing hidden images of models by manipulating silhouettes within a time limit. Players use a joystick to uncover portions of the figure, attempting to expose at least eighty percent of the image before the round concludes. A unique mechanic involves a bar across the top of the screen that influences the displayed image; if it dips too low, a monster appears and forces a repeat of the round. The pointer on this bar slowly shifts towards the "monster" side, but revealing parts of the model’s silhouette moves it back. This creates a strategic balance between progressing toward completion and avoiding unwanted transformations. The game features photographic images of both Japanese and Western models, presented in a style similar to the earlier New Fantasia. Adding an element of surprise are unexpected cameo appearances from recognizable figures such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Robin Williams, and Yasser Arafat amongst other personalities, appearing within the gameplay environment. Super Model is controlled with an eight-way joystick and a single button.
