Idol Janshi Suchie-Pai Special (Japan)

Idol Janshi Suchie-Pai Special is a unique tabletop mahjong game released in 1993 by Jaleco and featuring seven selectable characters—Mai, Yuki, Rumi, Shiho, Sayuri, Erika, and Rei—each with their own distinct appearance. Players engage in one-on-one mahjong matches against these idols, progressing through the roster to challenge each opponent sequentially. Victories are rewarded with a matching tile puzzle; successfully completing this mini-game grants bonuses that can be utilized during subsequent mahjong rounds. The matching tile sequences also reveal still images of your current opponent as you clear them from the board, adding a lighthearted visual element to the gameplay. Losing all betting funds results in game over, while clearing an opponent's tiles advances the player to the next challenge. A hidden character, Kyouko, is unlockable by achieving a maximum "Tumikomi" level and progressing past Stage 7. This arcade title blends strategic mahjong gameplay with playful presentation, offering a distinctive experience for players seeking a mature tabletop game with a quirky twist.
