Raiga - Strato Fighter (US)
Tecmo • 1991

Pilot your fighter through hostile skies in Raiga – Strato Fighter, a fast-paced cooperative shooter released by Tecmo in 1991. Two players take control of advanced aircraft and battle their way across multiple levels, dodging enemy fire and destroying waves of airborne adversaries. Using an eight-way joystick and two buttons for firing, you’ll maneuver your plane horizontally while contending with increasingly challenging patterns and powerful bosses. The game's soundtrack incorporates unexpected musical influences; one track is a recognizable cover of a classic piece by Emerson Lake & Palmer. Raiga originally debuted in Japan early in 1991 before making its way to North America, where the US version includes an anti-drug message screen. The arcade release utilizes technology including a Motorola 68000 processor and Yamaha YM2203 sound chips. Later ported to Xbox as part of Tecmo Classic Arcade, Raiga – Strato Fighter offers a retro experience for fans of the horizontal scrolling shooter genre.
