Stone Ball (4 Players, v1-20 13/12/1994)
Art & Magic • 1994

Stone Ball is a four-player sports game released in 1994 by Art & Magic. Combining elements of soccer, hockey, and baseball, it places players in control of teams of cavemen competing to score by getting a stone ball into the opposing team’s cavern. Players use large clubs to maneuver the ball while also engaging in physical altercations with their opponents through tackling and hitting. Gameplay emphasizes chaotic fun over strict sportsmanship; matches often devolve into comical brawls. Special bonuses provide opportunities for players to unleash unique attacks, such as firing projectiles or even temporarily burying rivals. The game utilizes a horizontal screen resolution of 320x256 pixels with a palette of 256 colors, controlled by an eight-way joystick and three buttons per player. Stone Ball’s unusual blend of athletic competition and prehistoric mayhem offers a lighthearted, multiplayer experience for up to four players.
