Gameplay

Take to the skies in Strike Gunner S.T.G, a cooperative vertical shooter released by Athena/Tecmo in 1991. Players control one of two ships as they ascend through increasingly challenging levels, battling waves of enemies and powerful bosses. Utilizing an eight-way joystick and two buttons for firing and special abilities, players work together to navigate the scrolling environments and destroy threats. The game’s design is credited to Undead Tama, who also handled the screenplay, alongside sound direction by Sho. Strike Gunner S.T.G features a Motorola 68000 processor and an X1-010 sound chip for its visuals and audio. The simultaneous two-player capability allows for shared action and strategic coordination against the game's escalating difficulty. A Super Famicom port of Strike Gunner S.T.G followed in 1992, bringing this arcade experience to home consoles.
