Step into the cockpit of an X-wing fighter and take on the Empire in Atari’s 1983 arcade adaptation of Star Wars. As Luke Skywalker (Red Five), your mission is to destroy the Death Star by firing a proton torpedo into its vulnerable exhaust port. The game unfolds across three distinct phases, beginning with a dogfight against TIE fighters and Darth Vader before descending onto the Death Star’s surface where you must navigate laser turrets and towers. Finally, you'll fly through a treacherous trench lined with automated defenses, requiring precise piloting to avoid collisions and enemy fire. Successful completion of each stage presents increasing challenges with more frequent attacks and obstacles. A unique flight yoke control system allows for both horizontal and vertical aiming, adding an immersive element to this thrilling first-person shooter experience.
