Star Sweep (World, STP2/VER.A)
Axela / Namco • 1997

Star Sweep is a cooperative puzzle game released in 1997 by Axela, running on Namco’s System 11 hardware. Up to four players each control their own character using an eight-way joystick and three buttons to manipulate colored blocks across the screen. The goal involves coordinating movements with your fellow players to strategically clear these blocks and prevent them from reaching the top of the playfield. Gameplay centers around a shared, vertically scrolling environment where new blocks continuously appear. Each player's actions directly impact the others; careful communication and teamwork are essential for success as you attempt to build chains and trigger special clears. The game’s design allows for simultaneous action by all four players, creating a dynamic and potentially chaotic puzzle experience. Star Sweep initially debuted in Japan in July of 1997 and later received ports to the Nintendo Game Boy and Sony PlayStation consoles.
