Super Slam is a four-player sports game released in 1993 by Playmark. Players control characters competing in tennis matches using an eight-way joystick and three buttons to serve, volley, and smash the ball across the court. The gameplay resembles Namco’s “Super World Court,” although Super Slam utilizes less advanced hardware that lacks transparency effects. The game presents a horizontal screen with a resolution of 304 x 240 pixels and a refresh rate of 58 Hz, displaying a palette of 2048 colors. At its core, the arcade cabinet uses a Motorola 68000 main CPU alongside an I8051 processor and an OKI6295 sound chip to produce graphics and audio. Super Slam provides a straightforward tennis experience intended for simultaneous multiplayer action; up to four players can participate in matches at once.
